Nineteen: The number of job applications in the past week.
Twelve: The number of rejections in the past week. I was surprised by a couple of these. I checked all their boxes AFAICT and figured I’d at least score a recruiter interview.
One: The number of round #2 interviews where I was totally mismatched to the position because a headhunter oversold me. The interviewer and I both knew it, had a good laugh about it, and chatted about random software topics. It’s good to meet good people. I hope the company succeeds.
One: The number of round #3 interviews in the past week. I killed it.
One of this week’s rejections was from a round #3 interview last week on which I didn’t do great. The interviewer was easily the worst interviewer I’ve encountered as far back as I can remember. So assuming that he and the interview process is a reflection of the company, I consider this to be a bullet dodged. On paper the position was rather cool, though.
While applying via online job boards certainly doesn’t hurt any, the success ratio is low. I’m seeing quick rejections (within 24- 48 hours) and no responses.
