[This continues from my first post about my Django-to-Plone odyssey.] I now understand more of Plone's underlying concepts. I can't yet create a non-trivial Plone site from scratch in a reasonable amount of time, but I'm getting closer. I've read some of, and have temporarily put aside, Professional Plone Development. I've read a few of the on-line tutorials … Continue reading Django -> Plone: Light Bulbs, differences, irks
Moving from Django to Plone
This is the first of what might be a series of posts about learning Plone. I've worked in Django since January 2006, when Joe Heck, Karen Williams, and I built the now-defunct TrenchMice site. I haven't done any Django work since March, when I joined Fisher Communications, but I've followed the mailing lists and blogs. And I … Continue reading Moving from Django to Plone
Over 1,000 spam comments, and counting…
Today, the number of spam comments filtered by Akismet for this blog broke the 1,000 barrier. The vast majority, easily more than 99%, of the spam is obvious nonsense. Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo 1.02 firmware upgrade -> Heart attack
Buffalo Technology released a 1.02 firmware upgrade for the LinkStation Pro Duo, which I own. As I mentioned in another post, they didn't release it in a Mac-compatible format. Boo, hiss. So, I tried upgrading it from my wife's old Windows laptop. The upgrade application featured broken English messages. Very nice. All your base are … Continue reading Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo 1.02 firmware upgrade -> Heart attack
